Wait isn't that the 50 shades of gray guy? Is he any good when working with better material?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he's rather excellent in The Fall. Creepy as hell too.

Seconding the above comment. He's really good. Although I haven't read 50 shades, but he is really on point with this character.

He's been in other things, you know. That movie wasn't his first ever acting job.

Oh, yes. The Fall is really dark though, and he plays a serial killer who's scary as hell.

it really amuses me that he's playing a sexist serial killer and christian grey. like ... dude, your going to get type-cast.

There are some scenes in S2 of the Fall which made for one hell of amusing meta in-joke ;) (because of him getting cast in 50 Shades)

Text: This show is brilliantly written and he does such a great job of playing a serial killer (absolutely chilling, in fact) that I worry people who watch the show don’t know that he’s an adorably friendly sweetheart in interviews and real life.

S!B Yeah this is a really dumb thing to worry about, it’s not like I’m his agent.

Finally! A "The Fall" Secret!

To be honest OP, I didn't know that. Season 2 left me realizing Peter/Paul is actually the ultimate hater and subscribes to evil (not that his actions in the previous season didn't make me think so, but his rationale and "accomplice" have made it extremely clear to me.)

Also, COLIN MORGAN :D

Bonus: I was shipping the Doctor Reed and Stella so hard....

In brief, the show is fantastic and thank you for letting the world know he's actually a sweetheart (not sarcasm).

That final conversation with Stella basically revealed just how banal his "evil" was - he was magnetic, but ultimately, he's just another banal monster, there's nothing extraordinary to him, it's all familiar. I did like that, even though I'm in two minds about S2 in general and mostly disappointed with it (I hated the teenager plot, pacing was way off and I'm not sure where they're going with this).

Side note: Colin Morgan grew up mighty fine :)

He does seem like a sweetheart in real life, but he's an actor so I think most people get that the actor is not the character.

I hate The Fall so much. Hire an underwear model to play a serial killer and have him walking around with his shirt off. Not glamorising violence against women at all, no.

Not to mention the hard-bitten cop so cardboard she could have been cut out wholesale from the last hard-bitten cop stand-up figure. I'd just watched The Bridge beforehand. This cop is like a poor man's Saga, only more unpleasant. Gillian Anderson is worth so much more.

The cinematography was great in The Fall but I gave up after about ep 3 of the first series. It was bland and repellent all at once, no mean feat.

I wanted to like The Bridge but it just doesn't do it for me. I couldn't get over what's her name in it. It seemed like an autistic cliche to me.

I don't think he's too bad but I also don't think he's that good either. "Chilling" feels a little strong to me.
