"Unattractive"

Speak for yourself, OP.

Well, tbh, they're not by fandom standards - which skews young and pretty. So OP might be right about it being a less-common pairing.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
DA I disagree that fandom skews young and pretty, I mean think about how large the Sherlock fandom was for a time.

And how many young girls were into Snape (and movie Snape, who is considerably older.)

Sure there are going to be your "youths" that don't see it and prefer Teen Wolf or what have you. But I've honestly never seen any lack of old man and not conventionally attractive slash.

(Plus one of the actors in this secret has already been in a popular slash pairing...)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
The Sherlock actors are young, though? Both leads were under 40 when the show began in 2010 (BC 34 - MF 39)*; and as we just saw from our age thread, there are quite a lot of people 30+ in fandom.

*Tangentially, I was amused to learn that both leads in Elementary are older (JLM 40 - LL 44 at Elementary's 2012 premiere).

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I mostly said Sherlock because of the "unattractive" aspect since the claim was about young and pretty. I also feel like they both look a lot older then they are (the Elementary actors do look a lot younger to me...)

I think if you're saying Timothy Omundson is "old" then you could make the same claim about Martin Freeman since Freeman is only a bit younger.

I mean I don't think any of them are old, but this is based around the secret which may have been coming more from a perspective of interacting with the young portion of fandom. There are teenagers who crush on the Supernatural actors and call them middle aged so that portion of fandom does exist.

"Young and pretty" is pretty subjective. Chris Evans? Young and pretty applies but some figures popular in fandom are far from conventionally attractive, youthfulness notwithstanding.

I'd actually say that Chris Evans is really already on the older side of fandom, and burlier than generally considered cute. A lot of people just like him because he's a bit of a dork.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 I am not into Gareth but as someone who has been crushing on Tim Omundson for years I can't call him unattractive.

Plus that beard + that hair on him, I fell for him all over again.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to say. The character may be unattractive, but Timothy Omundson is not.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-01 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So agreed. Timothy Omundson has been making my lady parts quiver since he was Eli on Xena in the 90s!

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! He's the reason I watched Psych!

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
And yet another vote for Tim O. That singing voice! That hair! That beard!

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Tim O. is absolutely hot. I can't think of a good reason why someone wouldn't find him attractive.

Yup. Gare-bear doesn't do it for me (Though I don't find him terribly unattractive or anything either), but the King? Shit. He looked fine as hell with that hair and beard. He's a handsome man, and damn if he isn't charming as hell too. (In this role, mind. I don't know much about the actor, but could easily see him being the same elsewhere.)

impo the handsomest Tim Omudson's ever been is in his role as Cain on SPN

HOO BOY

His longest-running role was as Lassiter on Psych, where he is truly hilarious but not terribly charming.

Niiiice! I have an appreciation for Mark Sheppard, so him and Tim together is awesome.

I can't decide if he looks better with or without the beard. With the beard he's handsome and hot, without he's downright pretty. Both do it for me, so it's pretty much a win-win scenario.

I kind of regret never watching Psych, now. He was fantastic in Galavant.

I also never knew he was on SPN!

(Anonymous) 2015-02-02 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
I highly recommend Psych as a popcorn show. Marathoning it kind of gives me an icecream headache, but at the end of a gloomy day I can pop in an episode and have a lot of laughs (it's a gloriously SILLY show) then walk away easily. And Tim being handsome is a bonus!

Is it on Netflix? So many things I want aren't, but if it's on Netflix I might try to fit in an episode or two now and then.

I've seen bits of the show, but never a full episode, and not much of Tim's character. It might be worth a try though. I must admit, Galavant gave me a crush.

DA Going to second recommending Psych, it's a super fun show and Tim is good in it.

And IA about him looking good both with and without the beard.

Thirding that you watch Psych! It's not the sort of thing you can properly binge on. Maybe 3 at a time, at most? It can feel a bit repetitive, as almost every episode works on the same pattern.

SA---

And no one mentioned how adorable Tim was in Judging Amy. I know it was a loooong time ago but he was precious.

Also- Tim fans, check him out in "That guy, who was in that thing" a documentary about character actors. Fine piece of work and interesting/entertaining.

Yes! I caught some episodes of that when I was on maternity leave and remembered how much I loved him in that.
