Re: minor sports rant, go ahead and skip it

sports industry makes $700B a year, exponentially more than what other entertainment industries earn, and yet it receives an outsize amount of tax breaks and subsidies AND it's partially tax exempt

stadiums are built $200M a pop with on average 70% of the costs paid via taxes, often displacing entire communities, altering city layouts and skylines, and putting a tremendous drain on resources for no discernible positive economic impact

many if not most businesses in various sectors receive tax breaks, including video games but there's something wrong here when the sports industry is making ten-twenty times what everyone else makes a year and yet we pay most of the costs for their giant fucking economic and land-use black holes and a good chunk of their salaries

if you're a filmmaker you can't even fucking get a tax break unless you can prove that you'll spend $500k in whatever place you intend to film in, but we build stadiums for millions of tax dollars and they bring no money to local economies

Yeah, stadium deals are a crying shame, but the tenor of your remarks seems to exceed that.

well sure, shady stadium deals are just part of the problem
