That sparse first draft is my way of just getting it down. Then I can go to down on description and little gestures that they're making while talking and fleshing it all out. There are published writers who do this as well, so it's not just us.

The only universal rule is "Do What Works for You."

And I believe in your writing, and that you will one day get to the point of subbing it. I don't know if it will make you feel better or worse, but I had 21 rejections last month and I have 28 subs out right now.

I completely agree with you about everyone having to find what works for them. Which is why it's so annoying when other people offering advice act like things are universal when they aren't. I just need to ignore them though.
