Judaism is a religion, not an ethnicity.

He's never been Jewish, his mother may have been but she converted to Scientology and raised him as a Scientologist. I'm sure that means he can easily convert to Judaism should he chose to but I was under the impression he was an atheist.

I doubt the Neo-Nazis would care. He comes from a Jewish bloodline therefore he is seen as Jewish in their eyes.

Judaism is both a religion and an ethnic group (also there is loads of anti-Semitism also against non-practicing Jews)
If his mother was Jewish then he is Jewish by blood and wouldn't need to convert at all. There's no provision in Jewish law to stop being Jewish.

It's both. If it were just a religion, you wouldn't be considered Jewish if your mother was Jewish... which is one of the ways people define Jewishness.
