I never considered that looks would have anything to do with it, but since meeting you I'm starting to think it's a prerequisite.

I was actually discussing this with a friend the other day, the fact that so many of the F1 drivers are attractive. And it probably comes down to the fact that they are all well trained, healthy individuals who take care of their bodies which automatically make them more attractive than the "same" person who don't do the same.
