Re: Childfree versus not wanting kids?

Yeah, and I'm lucky that how I deal with being trans means I don't have to be sterilized to get the legal things I want. (Thank god, just because I don't want kids doesn't mean I want to undergo surgery!) But that's just ME, there are plenty of trans people or disabled people who DO want to have kids, but are sterilized under social pressure or with no consent at all.

And even though I myself don't want kids, I would be a fool not to note that avoiding pregnancy (especially in an upbringing as rapey as ours) consumed a fair amount of time, worry, and energy. So it's this conflicted thing of, I am HUGELY glad I haven't been forcibly bred, am hugely glad not to have kids, but also angry that a lot of folks in my demographics want kids but are unable to have them.

It's complicated.
