Text: I didn’t think this movie was that great. It gets better about halfway through, but that’s too far in. It’s fun, but it’s not great.

But God, I love the fandom.

I don't even recall seeing this movie advertised. I must have missed it.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
The trailer is atrocious.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that was a still of Epic.

Then again, I thought it was some kind of Epic sequel/ripoff when I first saw the trailer. (Not that Epic was good enough to rip off.)

I haven't even heard of this movie (I live under a rock). It is any good?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
No. Think really awful rendition of Beauty and the Beast

God, now a horrible 70s song is stuck in my head.

The song was used in the ads for it. Every time it got stuck in my head.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I get that song stuck in my head whenever I watch Ella Enchanted.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Never heard of it.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
There's a fandom for this movie?

First time I saw the trailer I thought this would have been a flop.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
It was a flop, it did horribly in theaters.

It may have a fandom but I don't imagine it's huge.

It was the lowest opening very wide release (3,000+ theaters) animated movie of all time, so yeah it flopped.

Then again, quality aside (I haven't seen it), no one even knew the movie existed before two months ago when it was announced out of the blue. There's been little to no marketing as well.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I've literally never heard of this movie

(Anonymous) 2015-02-03 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
There's a fandom?? Last I heard almost no one had seen it and every last one of the people who did agreed that it is catastrophically bad.

...Is this secret some sort of weird advertising technique? How does a just-released film that nobody's ever heard of before even HAVE a fandom?

I did think it looked vaguely interesting (and I have two kids under seven who'll watch any old tat and it keeps them quiet for a couple of hours, so)... looked it up but it's not been released in the UK yet. Due to be next week apparently, but neither of the big chain cinemas near me (Odeon, Vue) seem to be planning on showing it. Oh well!
