I was a theatre major, and yet, I've never read any Chekhov (in college or on my own since then; I read a couple of his short plays in high school). I've seen some stage productions (including 3 goddamn different Seagulls) and film versions.

I'm also woefully inadequate on Roman theatre.

keep a copy of a Chekhov play over the mantle and you'll have to read it eventually

I'd start thinking of it as a decoration soon after; this happened with a reminder message on my computer. The bathroom, on the other hand...
