I find a lot of trailer mashups like this one better and more creative than the actual trailer (and sometimes, the actual movie).

Bonus: I have about a dozen trailer audio files in my music collection because I love the combination of the music, dialogue, and sound effects. Do other people do this or is it just me?

I had never heard of such a thing before, but that sounds pretty entertaining, OP.

I do this for AMVs/tribute videos etc. Im totally embarrassed by mostly because noisy friends and I have a ton of MV tracks ripped to my spotify.

Same here. I have some songs I like way better with dialogue from a fanvid thrown in.

There's a really great Destiel fanvid I like better than Katy Perrys original song. I'm amazed at some of the talent that springs up on YouTube that's better than the original source material.

I'm willing to bet it's not just you.

(One of my favorite things to listen is an mp3 extracted from a YouTube video of a WoW raid. The blending of the 3 pieces of music (classical, trance, and ambient) with the character dialogue that happens during the battle is very very well done.)

Do you have any links for this? I've never listened to this type of things.

You betcha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY3KVfovgaA

This is primarily raid footage -- basically each of the little people running around is actually a real person somewhere in the world, playing that character on a team that works together to fight the Big Bad.

The dialogue might be incomprehensible to someone who doesn't know the lore, but he's a brief explanation of the people you hear talking:

Big red devil-looking guy in the middle? (appears @ 1:40, very deep voice) Kil'jaeden, a Very Big Bad.

"Kalec" ( tenor voice) -- a good guy who can turn people into blue dragons for a minute or two: blue dragons are very helpful.

"Anveena" ( female voice) is ... well, she's kinda like Dawn from Buffy: she's a collection of Holy energy that was shaped into a person, and Big Bad was draining her energy, but at the end she sacrifices herself and weakens the Big Bad so that he can be defeated.

It's all more of a story when you don't have all the visuals going on, which is why I really enjoy listening to it as part of my regular playlist.

ETA: The "real people" (actual players communicating via voice chat) start talking @9:45, you can stop watching there. :p)

YES HOW DID YOU KNOW. *g*

(SInce I talk about it all the time.)

I have watched that thing... I'd say an average of once a week since it was posted.

BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME. It's honestly one of my top WoW videos even if it's not a funny/RP one, there's just something about the way it's put together that I love.

Ha, I haven't watched it that often but man I love watching it when I remember.

(And it seriously gives me so many Kalec/Anveena feelings, it's stupid).

I have to say that honestly it's been one of the drivers for the epic Kael'thas story I've been writing (for years), and it just reminds me of how much fun I had raiding in BC.

And I agree that it's by far the best raid video I've ever come across. I liked Muqq's Fury of the Sunwell for artiness, and of course everyone loves Craft of War: BLIND, and the funny ones like some of Oxhorn's stuff, but this one still... yeah. It gets me every time.

ETA: I bought all the tracks, but Ocean Realm just doesn't sound right without KJ saying "Destruction!" and "Oblivion!" every quarter-minute.

I will admit a large part of it is probably my BC-baby nostalgia making me love it so much, but even with that aside it's just a really nicely put together video.

Oh yeah BLIND is great and very nicely crafted imo and Oxhorn and Wowcrendor are my faves for funny stuff, but I agree that when it comes to raid vids that one is still the best for me.

Man I couldn't listen to those songs normally either, you have to have KJ yelling every so often to make it complete~

I, er, have been known to growl / shout along with the NPC if the track comes on while I'm cooking or doing dishes when I'm in the house alone. (Family members find this hilarious if they catch me doing it.)

I don't collect them, but I love listening to trailers without audio (radio ones for movies, shows, and podcasts are good too). Same with voice actor reels. There's just something really anticipatory about music, sfx, and totally intense quotes!

(Anonymous) 2015-02-05 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
I do this with trailer music, especially instrumental ones because they are so friggin' EPIC.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-05 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
I have audio rips of trailers, too, OP, for the same reason.
