In the United States, calling an ambulance is extremely expensive.

It's not that we hate them. It's that we care more about making mad stacks of money and rolling around in it than we do about their basic human dignity.

Not just in America. Here is not just expensive; unless it's a situation well covered by the media or the person is in an immediately life threatening condition (there have been exceptions for that tho), if the person is not conscious enough to answer about their insurance the ambulance won't take the person anywhere or even give them basic first aid.

Only if you have to go to the hospital. I've had to call ambulance or get someone to call me one for having anxiety attacks in public, and they were able to assist me on the spot, nobody paid anything.
