I think that's why this particular bit never bothered me. It's just too bizarre for me to take seriously. It would be one thing if Angel had bludgeoned the dog with the drumsticks or something, but no. Apparently, Angel playing the drums drove the dog to jump off a balcony? Was the dog already suicidal and the drum solo was the last straw? Are we supposed to believe the dog got so pissed off that it was lunging at Angel regardless of height/gravity? Also, akitas aren't yappy.

Basically, the premise of the song is so stupid that it's hard for me to get worked up over it. It would be like a character declaring that the stock market crashed because they played Camptown Races on their kazoo.

I know! It's so weird that I never realized just how SURREAL that whole episode is. And then she gets paid a thousand bucks for it! It's so strange.

It's especially weird, considering the musical is otherwise generally grounded in reality. (You know, for a musical.) It's about people with AIDS trying to keep things together and then suddenly DOGGIE DEATH DRUM SOLO! What the hell?
