I would be pretty surprised if you could actually hear drums like that (depending on the production, it's just improvised drums, I think) on the twenty third story of a New York highrise...

I feel like some kind of conspiracy theorist now, fixating on the acoustics of improvised drums in relation to doggie suicide.

Thinking about it - do windows even open enough for an Akita to fall out on the 23rd floor? I'm not sure if there is a rule against it, security-wise, but I think most highrise buildings I've seen don't have windows that open wide, if at all, after a certain height.

I kinda assumed that the dog was out on a balcony and leapt over it. It was the only way I could imagine the dog being able to HEAR it, and anyway, it takes an extremely determined dog to claw its way out a window. (Especially since the musical states repeatedly that it is snowing in December, so nobody would have their windows open.)

Which then leads the question as to why Benny and his wife would leave their dog outside in fucking snowy December, but we've already established this is a really BIZARRE event in the first place.

That actually makes more sense... As much sense as it can make, that is.

The Mystery of the Doggie Death Drum Solo, solved by me.

Seriously, thank god for the anon later in the thread who said it was a callback to La Boheme, because seriously, that just doesn't make any sense at all. No wonder my brain basically just ignored that scene, it's so random and STRANGE.

You are a true doggy death detective!
