Well, nothing really wrong with seeing parallels - just that tumblr might be the worst place ever to write about it.

I hope you calmed down some.

But if your review ever got reblogged, there is a copy of your unedited madness somewhere out there for everyone to see and remember! Someone could find out you have bouts of sjw! Hahashahahahaha!

This is the problem with tumblr. All the reblogs will have the original version you now regret, and won't you know there will be a hundred of them to every one of your new version.

It's stuff like this which means I only ever post links on tumblr these days which point to all my wordage hosted elsewhere.

They might have gotten away with that but then they went and did it on tumblr so there is no hope for them ;)

Am I the only one who finds it werid that everyone in this forum seems to think that talking about a single social issue = crazy batshit sjw?
Like, you guys do know there is a clear line of difference between the two, right.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
No, a lot of people here don't realize that.

I think it has to do with the way they do it. The OP did say they went "over the top".

and there's a difference between talking rationally about social issues and the way I often see it done on tumblr.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-06 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, I thought that was the point of several of the comments already.

I'm ALL ABOUT critically examining media with a thoughtful eye to its cultural and political context. I've written a number of pieces professionally about doing exactly that, discovering rape culture in childhood favorites and ugly stereotypes in light comedies.

And if Tumblr were capable of thoughtful examination of things instead of just finding checkboxes to bully people over, I'd have less of a problem with it.

We don't actually know what the OP wrote. If they're so freaked out over it, maybe it was something embarrassingly over the top? I agree with other people's point that tumblr's a poor choice for posting stuff you may later regret, due to the reblogging function.

Text: I write episode reviews of TV shows on Tumblr.

A while back, I lost my head and brought a real world social issue to one of them. It turned out not to apply. Or maybe it did, but I blew it out of proportion. It wasn’t even an issue I care about I just saw a line between it and the story and I couldn’t help myself.

I’m not sure if it qualified for full nutty Tumblr-brand SJW monologuing or not. But I dove over the fucking line of my comfort song, and I wish I could erase the damn thing from the internet.

…I settled for editing to death. It didn’t help. I feel like crap. That isn’t how I want to write.
