I'm not going to say I wasn't disappointed in these films, but I still enjoy them. I guess I can separate them from the books easier than most people. (Same for the LOTR movies, which some Tolkien fans loathe.)

I never expected something as epic in scale as LOTR either. (And I still think the cast of these films is perfect. If the pacing hadn't been so off, there hadn't been so much padding and the film would've focused more on Bilbo and the dwarves journey I think they would've been quite excellent!)
