And no, I don't think it's a "any storyline is better than none" situation

Fair enough point. If it's any consolation, the scenes where Beiste comes out as trans have actually been handled surprisingly well (even if they seem trite) but the fact that they chose to make Beiste trans just leaves a bad taste out of my mouth. It definitely feels like they just picked the most "masculine" female character and decided to make them trans because why not (well, that and they probably really want to nail some emmys for their last season)
