Not sure why this is a secret because it is a very popular opinion. In fact, liking the Hobbit movies seems more of an unpopular thing. I definitely disagree with you OP, but to each their own. I do like LOTR better, but I love them all and the look and effects are things I like in both equally.

Yes, this exactly. In some circles I'm almost afraid to admit that I liked the Hobbit movies. And while I do like LotR better, I'm still enjoying the Hobbit movies a lot, too.
