While the second bit it's true, I'm not sure it's good to declare that someone lacks empathy. Very few people actually do, and those people are terrifying. Someone on the internet not getting something isn't the same.

that seems like a weirdly over dramatic thing to say to someone who doesn't see the big deal in someone encouraging another person to write badfic. it's a little mean at worst, but you don't have to completely lack empathy to believe it

AYRT: I didn't say "completely". Not understanding how this is a nasty thing to do IS a sign of a difficulty seeing how something might affect another person which is apparent given a moment's attempt to think how it might feel if it were you. Ask a question, which AIRT did, and you might get someone trying to answer it.

Lacking empathy =/= being entirely devoid of empathy.

No one thinks OP is a complete sociopath, but there's still something pretty gross about anyone who totally disregards how someone else may feel as long as they get their kicks.
