You can get one free credit report from each of the three agencies per year. So you don't have to wait until April, just apply for it from one of the other two agencies.

Hm, so if I got a report from all three agencies last April, then I do need to wait until April this year to request a new one? And should I only use one instead of all three?

For your free report, as far as I know, yes you have to wait. I try to space out my credit reports by requesting one every four months.
