35- Omg lol. Yeah she definitely was just catering to Ron's fans. There's no way she had it planned out or anything like that. It's also not like she'd made comments long before HBP (read: years) that alluded to R/Hr happening. If she was catering to fans I hardly think Ron's the character she'd choose. He's far from the most popular. And no hints? Even if you don't think they're "anvil-sized" they're there and by going on about how there was nothing at all and making a secret like this you're really just enforcing the negative reputation H/Hr shippers tend to have. It makes me feel sorry for the non crazy ones. I've talked to tons of casual fans who knew RHr would end up together from book four at the very latest.

I really don't have much to say to this. What did you pay more attention to- the fandom or the actual books? I guess fandom if you could care less what canon says.

Ron wasn't the only one with a jealous crush, Hermione displayed those same behaviors re: Fleur so I don't know how whether you hang out with guys or not is relevant. But really there was a lot more to the hints than just the Krum plot of GoF. You'd have to turn a blind eye to a lot of content not see where she was heading. There's simple character dynamics too (outside their actual compatibility level). Pairing Hermione with Harry would have made Ron a third wheel and there was simply no way that would have happened in this story.
