I think it depends on two key things:

1) If your MIL was an angel, would that change how you feel about your relationship and whether or not it's worth salvaging?
2) When it comes to dealing with your MIL, does your significant other back you up?

If the answer to #2 is "no", then forget it. You do not want to go through life getting pissed on by your MIL while your spouse fails to support you emotionally.
