While I'd love to believe that DH meant Deathly Hallows and that baseball involved ghosts, the most powerful wand ever made, and an invisibility cloak, I don't think that's what you meant?

Anon, I'm not gonna get into the DH thing, because it's a mess*, but I gotta ask-- have you read Michael Chabon's Summerland? It's got baseball games that are literally magical, and has an amazing take on the DH rule. I was reading it in a room where some people were sleeping and I got to that part and had to restrain myself from laughing out loud and disturbing people.

Fuck yeah Summerland! I want a movie of that book, made either by Terry Gilliam circa 1988, or Tim Burton circa 1993.

No, I do not consider Disney or Pixar acceptable substitutes. They are the designated hitters of kids' entertainment.

I'd love to see Laika do it; I can easily see it fitting into their style/tone with ParaNorman and Coraline. Summerland has creepy shit that needs to stay creepy. (The Flat Man? *shudders*)

The only real problem that I can see is that I'd want all the Native American characters to be played/voiced by actual Native American actors. It's not that hard. But that's 6 human characters, without getting into what race the ferishers should be...

And just looking at Laika's cast for Kubo and the Two Strings shows that if they can't cast East Asian actors, they certainly wouldn't cast Native actors. D:
