I don't recall Father Ted being this full of stereotypes about women, specifically. About the Irish, priests, Catholicism and small town life, absolutely! But I suppose it wasn't as conspicuous then in the mid-90s and because Craggy Island was deliberately written as an eccentric backwater.

Since IT crowd has a more contemporary, urban setting with characters who aren't expected to be socially conservative, the writing comes off as quite stodgy and unclever. The whole "hur hur lookit the lady who's obsessed with shoes!" thing disappoints because it sounds like the tired stand-up of an amateur at open mic night rather than material from an experienced comedy writer.
