Text: I kind of hated this song by osmosis. Until I actually listened to the lyrics.
It made me think of my OTP, and now I love it.
This wouldn't be particularly secret-worthy. Except --
-- I'm 40.
(I'm so embarrassed.)

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 02:42 am (UTC)(link)Aesthetic responses are deeply personal and not rational. No-one else is going to feel exactly the way you feel when you hear that song; that reaction uniquely yours and yours alone. Own it.

(There's a great Thor/Loki video that uses this song and it's perfect.)

Then I heard a lulzy neo-folk cover:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVmrN_NAu-s
And I realized that the song is pretty catchy and has good bones; it's mainly the production that's the issue. I genuinely like this cover. Unfortunately, the song is pretty catchy so I find myself singing it, sometimes in public, and then I realize that people won't know that I'm singing the cover, not the original.

I like Miley's original too but I love the harmonies in this version.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-12 03:03 am (UTC)(link)Even artists you usually hate can occasionally produce a gem. And sometimes songs don't have to be that great, you can still love them for personal reasons. Take joy in what you can and don't worry about it so much! (This secret and secret #10 should be BFFs.)
