Because you can experience anal play without harming yourself or anyone else, so why wouldn't you give it a try if you're worried about your ability to write it authentically? You don't even need a partner to experiment with toys and stuff, and it's really easy. It's not necessary to do this, but there's no good reason not to if you want.

Yeah, it's actually kind of creepy to me that in some circles you're considered to be a bit of a slacker if you're not willing to research sex/a specific sex act by performing it irl.
