And here I am playing through that again right now with friends.

Honestly, I wish they had more interaction because while they're cute friends at first, once Zidane takes over I don't see any friendship anymore.

Omg, you haven't been doing the full quest have you? It's...like the end of the whole Choco quest is all about their friendship!

I've finished the quest 3 times now. I'm aware of the end of the quest having some stuff but the middle is pretty blank and middles are very important in story-telling. Without it your end falls flat.

To me the middle is that in the side quest Mene helps Choco find chocographs and get to the Paradise (though he does charge) I do wish we see more of their interactions though.

The best thing about FFIX to me is all the colourful side characters, so many have stories of their own. Mr.Morrid and his love for coffee (I wonder if he knows about what the cargo ships take to the castle), Lowel and Micheal's relationship (I have eve seen people ship them), Part time worker Mary's love story, The old man in Linblum and Grandma Pickle...
