What are JLU and BTAS? Are they the cartoons where (going off a tumblr gifset) batman helps out a ?villian? ?young girl? ?on a swing? and also ?Harley? over a bad day?

(All the ? because I've not looked much into batman/supermanverse. Between the two, such boring turn-offs for me)

If they're such boring turnoffs, why are you asking?

Because from the gifs it looks like those particular universes don't do all the stuff that turns me off in the first place and Rogan's description is way more appealing than all the Batmans I've seen so far.

BTAS is Batman: The Animated Series, and JLU is Justice League Unlimited. They're cartoons which take place in the same universe which ran in the US from the early nineties till the mid '00s.

The young girl on the swing is from one of the last JLU episodes and is very sad. The Harley's bad day is from BTAS and is also pretty fun.

Both cartoons are really good, but have different moods. BTAS is very much a film noir-ish style, and for the first three seasons, Batman actually isn't that broody; he smiles, cracks jokes, and the action is a lot less sleek and streamlined than in JLU. It feels more down-to-earth.

JLU on the other hand, is much sleeker in aesthetic. Everything is more classically superheroic, in part because you have a lot of people running around with powers. (BTAS, the power level is pretty low, and Batman especially at the beginning moves and fights the way you would imagine a very well-trained but still ordinary human would.) JLU has a huge ensemble cast, which makes it very easy to avoid characters you don't like. We enjoy it because you get a lot of D-listers getting episodes to themselves and such.

BTAS is four seasons, and JLU is two, so not too long. Worth a check out!
