I actually watched BTAS in full AFTER JLU. (We saw some of it when it originally ran, but man, that was like twenty years ago!) It was really interesting seeing how the style and mood changed between the two shows, even though it was based off the same designs and characters.

I caught BTAS first since it aired when I was growing up but I agree, it's definitely more noir-ish than JLU, which isn't a problem because it works nicely for the series and I think it's where my love of Batman stemmed from. And then JLU happened and I loved the shit out of that, all the superheroes, all the time. And while Bats was still a bit broody I felt that they balanced him out with some humour too.

Totally. One of my favorite Batman parts of JLU are when he and Wonder Woman are going to give Superman birthday presents.

Wonder Woman: Bruce! You didn't get him a GIFT CARD, did you?

Batman: *defensively* No! ...cash.
