I was always a PlayerxPartner gal, myself, but I can see where the Grovyle folks are coming from. (OP, do you ship them as an OT3? I hadn't thought of it before, but I kind of like it.)

This secret makes me so happy. I shipped (and still ship, if I'm honest) Grovyle/Hero so hard when I played those games.

I shipped Player/Partner and Player/Grovyle myself, I mean, well--the first (and only) time playing this, I got a freaking Treecko for my partner. I played the entirety of the game frantically thinking that sometimes in the bad future(s), I would have left my Partner/Treecko who then evolved into the Grovyle we met.

Thanks to the internet, though, apparently it's not the case. But it'll forever be my headcanon.

I shipped Grovyle/Player too.

I saw my partner too much as a weak little brother though. I was this super energetic Totodile kicking ass and taking names, and my partner was this little cowardly Charmander. I was always mentally like "COME ON! GROW UP INTO A CHARIZARD THAT DOESN'T TAKE SHIT FROM NO ONE. BECOME ASH'S CHARIZARD. YOU GOT THIS."

Nintendo's actually been pushing the envelope a little lately -- well, Game Freak, more likely. I'm just getting around to playing Alpha Sapphire, and I've been exploring Sea Mauville, which... wow. Corporate cultism, a kid's perspective on his family breaking up and his mother's affair, hints of dark backstories for a lot of minor characters, and a couple of schoolgirls who are very blatantly making out with each other... (The blush alone would sell it, never mind the locked door...)

Plus I seriously feel like Zinnia was flirting with my female trainer. But that could just be me.

i hope they include more stuff like the new sea mauville in future games. it was spectacular.
