How do you imagine it?

Obviously I don't mean animals, but fictional nonhuman species. It's almost never discussed in canon, and sometimes fic writers will make a point of making one species' genitals look a certain way, but of course it's the author's headcanon.

So if you write porn involving non-humans, what is your headcanon for their genitalia?

I don't, but the Homestuck fandom has extensive "tentabulge" headcanons.

Inspired by all the wank over dragon penises in My Little Pony*, I headcanon that whatever dragons have down there is complex and alarming enough to make any non-dragon run away screaming.

*Don't you DARE give a dragon one penis! Or worse, no penis, like a lot of flying animals! They have a hemipenis, and can fuck two ponies at once with it, and you'll be flamed if you write any differently!

Eh, it depends. If an alien is based off of an animal race (incl. non-mammals), I generally tend to reconcile their junk as being similar to that of the animal they're based off of/inspired by. A "safe" way of looking at it, but it works in a pinch.

Transformers: I tend to go with the "hardline" method, which is basically sex via USB cable. The far more common (as in, 10% of the AO3 fic is tagged with it) method is "sticky", which is basically metal dicks and pussies, often both on the same robot. Combined with both of these but rarely seen alone is "sparksex", which is basically erotic soul manipulation.

I usually go with tentacles - several of them, long and prehensile.

I actually came up with this idea for a fic that I never got around writing. One of the characters was going to be an alien from a demisexual species. In order to achieve sexual arousal and sexual maturity, members of that species had to be in close contact with the pheromones of their partner for several months.

Among other things, the system had the advantage of making being raped by a stranger basically impossible for the species, and I had also come up with a different system to prevent rape-by-partner.

I had done something similar (in sprit rather than detail) for the Lemurians (aka the Aries Saints) in a few stories I wrote for Saint Seiya -- I gave the males what was essentially a penis under a thick membrane; membrane would be thinned by the presence of certain pheromones. ~ I did also give them an external little "bundle of nerves" over the second chakra, which interacted with the GSR or a partner's touch ot give pleasure.

Well, with my biology background, I sure have seen a whole lot of nonhuman genitals. I always kind of get pissed that everyone just draws a random penis-like object when there are so many other options for fertilization.

I always want more species that have dispersal fertilization, and they just crawl into a cozy pool together and release their eggs/sperm. That's so adorable to me.

I don't even have a biology background and that's really adorable to me.

Not everybody keeps their genitals in the same place, Captain.

There's this one shark-like character in Naruto that I like to think has claspers. I was working on a porn fic for that but I couldn't stop making it more funny than sexy, because claspers.

A friend of mine used to threaten to write Kisame claspers fic and present it to me while I shrieked in horror and glee. I had a lot of fun in that fandom.

I have several headcanons on ME alien sex and reproduction. Some of it is absorbed from fandom.

For example, with turians, males have a penis, but it's retracted inside their body when not in use. Asari have a vagina that primarily functions as a birth canal; there is some vestigial external genetalia present from their evolution from dual-sex species, but its use varies wildly from individual to individual (i.e. some asari really enjoy PIV sex with male mates or oral sex/handjobs with any mates, some really don't like it, some don't care). Salarians have a cloaca (this is sort of canon) and mate in a very non-direct way that doesn't even involve physical touch; their mating ceremonies basically involve wading around in a pool, one after the other. Krogan have something monstrous down there and I haven't even thought of what. Elcor have to mate very carefully and give birth rather like marsupials. Hanar are single-sexed and can actually reproduce without any sexual contact, but they usually don't, since they can choose to have sex (with any other hanar individual) which will produce a more varied offspring - sort of like they can choose to make a clone by duplicating their own DNA (a la parthenogenetic Earth animals) but they can also choose to make a zygote by fusing a gamete with that of any other hanar individual. Their mating involves tentacles and mutual exchange of slimy material.

haha, I should really write all this up and come up with more details. I really liked my model of elcor reproduction especially but I'm not sure if I wrote that down when I first came up with it...
