Uh... I don't remember Deus Ex that well to be honest. I just remember the ending with the computer ...guy... robot... thing? That's what I'm on about.

I was really just posting to say that I've played/watched those games, so you're not actually alone in that. Even if it was literally ten years ago for Deus Ex now. Yikes.

(also, come on now, you've called me worse so it's an easy mistake to make)

Of course I've called you worse -- "useless, barking animal" just doesn't cut it.

But I want to actually be able to talk to someone who's recently played and enjoyed those games and can actually have a discussion about them instead of vague half-memories and bashing the graphics.

Graphics were the reason I didn't even finish it though. That's pretty relevant, as I see it. Talking about whether or not certain styles of art in video games actually hold up is always a worthwhile conversation in my book, but then I ...like art in video games. I find it to be a crucial part of the experience, otherwise I guess I'd be a retro gamer.

I'm not a retro gamer. But I find old graphics to be, in and of themselves, a crucial part of the experience -- it's why (System Shock 2 aside, because the graphics were subpar for 1999) I am vehemently against HD texture mods because they destroy the charm.
