Eh, didn't say I was better than them. I'm not gonna lie -- I did feel hurt by the name-calling, by the dismissal of my experiences, by not feeling welcome in fandom.

I know I'm pathetic -- I have no real friends, no significant other, and so I try to connect with people online.

And so it sucks to not be welcome even there. And so…yeah, I'm bitter.

I totally sympathize with you here. I am definitely familiar with a lot of those experiences and I completely understand where you're coming from. And I don't think it's wrong to be bitter about it.

But I do think it reaches a point where people on here just auto-dismiss anything from that milieu and I don't think that response makes sense. And, I guess ultimately, I feel like who knows where people in that environment are coming from, and what troubles they have, and who else is just as lonely. And I'd rather try to be as generous as possible towards anyone who's not being an utter ass.

agreed. I thought I could at least connect on tumblr, but nope. one false step and I was out.

I don't want to be a dick, but I've had multiple arguments on tumblr and they never meant I 'was out'. And I'm talking about serious arguments that lasted for several days. Just because one or two people get mad at you it doesn't mean the whole website automatically hates you. Block the offended parties and go on with your life.
