I'm not freaking out over something that ought to be freaking me out. The "Help Out Poor Me" fundraiser being run by a bad writer and manipulative serial rapist I know is drifting closer to my actual social circle, and I just want to stay as far away from her as possible. So instead I'm taking a deep breath and going out for a drink with a friend who knows the truth about her. Also getting pasta, because pasta.

Can't you warn her? Also, if this person is a serial rapist, why aren't they in jail? If you know something, maybe you should go to the police...

Stats show most rapist walk free, and most rapes are committed by repeat rapists. This is not surprising at all.

Plus, (threadstarter here) she's a woman and the guys she raped were men. Try getting that taken seriously.

AYRT - Yeah, I realized that in hindsight. Still, why not warn your friend? Or is it one of those things that's hard to prove?

Threadstarter. I might not have been clear. The friend I had lunch and drinks with already knows about the manipulative rapist. She needed a drink because she was having to warn someone else "Do not trust this person or give her money, she is bad fuckin' news." We're just both upset at having to even think about rapist-lady again, rather than just putting all her toxic shit behind us.

There can be a lot of reasons for this. Rape has pretty low conviction rate and a lot of people are too afraid to report rape in the first place (and when they do, the legal process is known for being pretty traumatic for rape victims due to the intense scrutiny they often come under). It's mentioned that the rapist is a woman as well, which means that people are even less likely to report it due to the fact that a lot of dicks still think that the idea of a female rapist is inconceivable
