I am going to pick the most unusual fandom crossover I have seen that the author made work.

That is the "Seduction by Aviation" series. It is Cabin Pressure/Avengers with Martin Crieff/Tony Stark pairing. And it is AMAZING!http://archiveofourown.org/series/28029

That's not that unusual since so many people like the idea of Mrs. Frizzle as a time lady with the bus as her Tardis. Same goes for Mary Poppins.

Not so much two fandom crossovers so much as fandom/history crossover and fandom/WTF!AU crossover, but...

What happens when Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-wan, and a sith lord all get teleported to the real world. Along the way they make a new friend, break into Area 51, and fight General Douglas MacArthur. Rated M for future chapters. involves OC, and Ahsoka/OC. Enjoy.

Chapter 15 is where most of the MacArthur action happens if you want to skip to that (as I did):

"Who am I? Who am I? i son, am General, and supreme commander of the south west pacfic area. I am General Douglas MacArthur, and now I'd like to know who you are."

"I am Obi-wan Kenobi, Jedi master. This is my partner Anakin Skywalker, Jedi master, and that is his padawan Ahsoka Tano." Obi-wan completed the introduction.

"Way to tell him all our information when we barely know him." Anakin shook his head.

"Anakin we have nothing to hide." Obi-wan said as he looked at him.

"That's good, that'll make your situation much easier." MacArthur looked at them, and pulled a cob pipe out of his pocket, and placed it in his mouth. He lit it, and looked at each of them in turn.

you know, I was all ready to leave a comment along the lines of "but what is weird anyway, when you're in fandom long enough".
But that... that is weird. Gloriously so.
Though perhaps once you get into RPF/historical fiction then crossing it over with random fandoms automatically makes it weirder?

I have weird crossover ideas ALL THE TIME. The two I've actually written/am in the process of finishing, though, are Horatio Hornblower series/Treasure Planet and Horatio Hornblower/My Little Pony. I try to play them straight, but the crack can't help but seep through sometimes.
