I read that in a college class. So I had no way to not get it BECAUSE WE ANALYZED EVERY SENTENCE TWICE!

Completely ruined the story. :

DA obv but I love, love, love analysis like that, where you go through almost word by word. It's so fascinating. It's like excavating meaning out of the text. It's amazing to me.

Ugh, I almost had Romeo and Juliet ruined for similar reasons.

At one point, our teacher had us do an assignment where we had to scour the text for all physical descriptions of each characters. I think Benvolio or Mercutio has exactly one reference in the entire play about bushy eyebrows.

I wish I'd been a cheeky bastard and had just written "WHATEVER THEIR ACTORS LOOK LIKE" across the whole sheet.

So many things about English class coverage of Shakespeare annoys me in hindsight. Plays != novels, and they shouldn't be treated as such.
