The problem that I've found with social justice sneaking into fanfic is that it's usually not integrated well, and reads like a treatise more than a fic. The logical way to integrate say, feminism, for me, would not be the characters preaching about it, but having the world simply be more equal.
Like I've seen fics with nonbinary characters that just have all the characters treating them normally rather than giving speeches about how important whatever-it-is is.

Though tbh I generally don't find these plotlines interesting as plot, you know? In preachy stories it gets... really obvious. And like I said, devolves into endless ooc pontificating on the author's pet subject.
