...Are you replying to the wrong comment? No one said anything about cheating being something that happens by accident. "Good people aren't perfect" doesn't magically translate to "it's not their fault if they do something shitty".

There are some things that this would be applicable to. Murder, rape, other acts of overt malice.

Cheating, the overwhelming majority of the time, isn't an act of malice. People don't do it because they want to hurt their SO, they do it because they're being selfish, and being selfish in one aspect of your life does not disqualify you from being a good person. It is not remotely reasonable to look at someone who's spent 99% of their life being good and decent and selfless and say "oh, but you cheated on your SO that one time, so you suck".
