Please tell me more about how you hope 50 Shades succeeds just to spite Tumblr. I am as anti-SJW as you can get but there is a good reason for hoping for 50 Shades to flop. It condones a fucked up relationship and tells people that it's the relationship to aspire to.

lol

if it wasn't softcore porn for woman, no one would bat an eye

where was the outrage for the last action filk for promoting violence? or most movie romances, tbh.

There's always been softcore porn along these lines for women, but no one got all that scandalized because 1) all romance novels sort of blended into one homogenous mass and 2) everyone knew it was pulp. People get mad about 50Shades because of fans and anti-antis who claim that it is ~~empowering~~~ and roll their eyes if you let slip that the reason why you don't like it is because you think it portrays an abusive relationship as romantic.

It would never have gotten famous enough for anyone to have an opinion on it one way or another, let alone for there to be a movie, if it wasn't an AU Twilight fanfic with the serial numbers filed enough, which just adds more sleaziness.

Honestly, the outrage can get kind of OTT, but i think it's equally silly to act like anyone with a negative opinion about it is just pearl-clutching for the sake of pearl-clutching and/or sekritly hates women.

I don't think it would have gotten as popular if the anti-people didn't make such a big deal about it. Same with Twilight. I know I wouldn't have heard of either of those if it weren't for people protesting, because I don't hang out in spaces that would like that sort of thing (in general). But people complained and gave them free publicity and some people were curious and read them and some of those people found that they actually liked it.

ayrt

I said things Tumblr puts on a pedestal, dumbass. No one on Tumblr likes 50 Shades and I didn't mention it either. Get your head out of your ass and read my comment.
