I thought she wrote the screenplay? I could be wrong. But I agree, the character herself wasn't one of the more exciting parts.

If so, the screenplay IS pretty funny. I was thinking more of her actual acting/comedic roles. Maybe she's a good writer but a bad performer--American humor is pretty reliant on good delivery.

She did. Which makes it even funnier than someone would be ignorant of her accomplishments, yet still feel justified in dismissing her comedy skils.
