OP, I think you might have endometriosis. I'm just a random on the internet, and you already said yourself that you need a specialist, but uh, yeah...get that checked out.

Seconding this. Periods should not be that bad unless there's something wrong, whether it's endo, PCOS, hormonal imbalances, or what.

And be persistent about it. Endo can be hard to diagnose, and as a result a lot of doctors will tell you there's nothing wrong even though there actually is.

That's my biggest fear. Before I got my IUD, my period was very regular. First day--cramping like a motherfucker, heavy-ish flow, kinda useless. After that, mild bleeding, lasts for five days. Like clockwork.

Now with my IUD, the cramping is only a tiny bit less bad but it happens any time during the month and the bleeding can go for seven or eight days. Feh.
