Yeah really. And a waste of time.

OP

It might be, but I find it actually keeps me from being an asshole or criminal offline. My counselor is aware of this, and she doesn't feel I need to put a stop to it. I've even shown her transcripts of the conversations. She gives me feedback on tones she sees in the conversations but does not push me toward a particular interpretation.

If you need to hound people online to not be an asshole offline that's pretty sad and you should do something about that.

and I don't mean continue harassing people. I mean figure out why you absolutely NEED to be an ass.

OP

As I've mentioned, I talk to my counselor about this and have shown her transcripts of the conversations. So it's definitely up for discussion, but in her professional opinion it's an issue that's a little further down the priority list. We're working on some more complicated abuse-related issues dating back about 15 years. This could change when those issues are more thoroughly addressed.

I see a psychologist too. We talk about issues I have. But you know I try to actually work on things she pinpoints as a problem. Are you even trying?

You just sound like you're saying "No I have to be an asshole somewhere. I HAVE ISSUES."

OP

I regularly ask her for information on sociopathy and trying to figure out if that's my problem. She feels that with the amount of care I show toward my husband, cats, and closest friends that I do not meet the criteria of sociopathy. I ask her what she sees when she reads my opinions, and she states that while my opinions are strong they don't come from a place of a person who lacks a conscience. So I do talk to her about my issues and try to understand what's at play here. At this point, she feels that I do not merit any treatment that would be in line with an antisocial personality disorder.

Okay.

But harassing people continually for days is not healthy for either of you, and it might help you to consider not doing it.

If someone writes a story you think is "bad" it's not really your problem and easy to avoid. I don't see why you have to hound them into submission. That's really not healthy and shouldn't be encouraged.

If cyber harassing people is the only thing that keeps you from acting out in real life...you honestly should be kept away from other people for your safety and there's.

Your counselor sounds like a butt-patter looking for that sweet sweet recurring check from people like you, tbh.

Either you're lying about going to counseling, or you have a shitty counselor. Fixating on someone like this for days on end, harassing them, and getting a drug-like high off of it isn't healthy. It doesn't matter that it stops you from being an asshole IRL - you're still being an asshole to an actual, real, flesh and blood human, and you're still feeding that part of yourself instead of trying to work through it in a less destructive way.

criminal offline

So being a criminal online is alright with you and your therapist? Jesus, get a better therapist.

Your therapist shouldn't be encouraging you to bully and harass people.
