actually I think you will find that making albums that are bloated albums is Rock N Roll as fuck

And those genres died out because they went from being rock and roll to being part of the establishment. Which is why punk came about. And when that went belly up metal came next. And when that went all glam, grunge came soon after. And when grunge because mainstream, second wave punk came about and so on and so forth.

Yeah, but it's not as simple and clean cut as that. And even early punk bands like the Sex Pistols were pretty still "manufactured".
Stop being so hung up on genre purity and music authenticity.
