Not gonna lie, all I know (at least, I THINK I know) about this thing is that your cat ears fall off when you have sex. Which sounded like body horror out the wazoo to me. (Doesn't it HURT?)

I tried to get into this at the recommendation of a friend, and the pretty art almost got me hooked, but I just could not with the pedo abusive therapist (was it a therapist? the woman trying to date the protagonist), the abusive mother, and all the shotacon bait. :(

Now that I think about it, that other manga with the angel-incest teens also had very pretty art!

What is it with pretty art in manga and messed-up stories? (yes two examples totally prove a causal correlation!! lol lol what is logic)

I've never seen a single image from this thing that doesn't creep me out. I understand the story isn't actually that rapey, but you could never tell from the cover art.

This is the first time I ever realized this and Earthian came from the same creator.

Earthian was my jam when I was a wee seeker of yaoi and shonen-ai, although yeah, shit for endings.

I litterally only bought Loveless for the art. But after a while I got so sick of none of my questions being answered i stopped picking it up altogether.

Oh, Loveless. I watched a bit of the anime...I tried the manga, found it disturbing and never finished.

That didn't stop me from reading lots of Loveless AU's back in the day, though.

Now I'm thinking of all those gifs of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender with cat ears. Those were cracktastic.

Oh man, I remember the whole Loveless hype! The art was pretty and I liked the concepts you mentioned, not to mention the 'cat ears virginity' thing, but man did the story just not go anywhere after a while.

Guess it's a good thing my favorites, Yamato and Kouya, got out early.

Omg Yamato and Kouya were literally the only good, interesting, and developed couple in the entire series. And of course they only had one appearance and were never seen again.

Yeah, I lost track when they actually got to Septimus Moon and a certain someone came back into the story. Christ, the anime came out 10 years ago, and the manga still isn't bloody finished. Call me back when the damned thing is done...

Oh my gosh, is this still ongoing? I remember reading it because everyone told me it was the best thing since sliced bread and then it wasn't. Just a lot of abuse (eta: just to clarify about the type of abuse: the MC gets physically beaten by his mom), implied incest and unsolved stuff that never was touched upon. Good times, good times.

Yeah, the art style is pretty, the premise is interesting (drawing strength from another person for a fight), homoeroticism is a bonus for me but I despise adult/minor relationships, so I've never given it a try. I read a bit of Black Butler and had to drop the shit out of that. I'm still pretty mad about how creepy it was and how popular it is (was?).

I had a friend who liked this series and even got a bit offended once when I raised concerns with the underage shota crap in it. I HOPE she's past that and doesn't like this series anymore...

The artwork....wasn't that great if I remember right. And I HATED the girl character. I know, I know, there are RL girls who develop fast at a young age, but the main girl was TOO grownup looking for the age she was at. I was never convinced she was, what, 12? 13? I just never bought it. And THEN they kept making references to her looks and her virginity, though I may be remembering that wrong (i read the first two vols years ago).

Text: Even after all this time, I’m still really pissed about this manga’s wasted potential. The fighter-Sacrifice set up was pretty cool, Seimei, was a compelling villain, and the art is hella fucking gorgeous -- why did all these things have to come with a dumb convoluted plot and huge servings of creepy fanservice?

I really should’ve known. Kouga Yun’d burned me before, with Earthian. I still love the shit out of the female Zero’s storyline, though.
