BBC Sherlock - continue watching?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-21 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I watched the first season/series of BBC's Sherlock. I loved the first two episodes, and heavily disliked the third.

How are the rest of the seasons/series? More in tune with the first two episodes, or more like the third?

They suck. Bail now.

The first episode of the first series was the best, imo. The third series was like fanfiction come to life.

Is the third The Blind Banker? I'm not in the fandom, but know from friends who are that that's the episode everyone in the fandom hates and pretends doesn't exist. So if you liked the other two you might be fine.

No. The third is the greatest game (great game? The one with Moriarty).

I feel like the first season was the best ad it only got less good plot-wise from there.

The second season is much of the same as the first. The third season is a bit of an Elementary rip-off. Like Moffat wanted to show that he could have a hardcore drug addict Sherlock, not just a nicotine addict like Sherlock was in the first two seasons as well as a deadly woman with a murder sheet that is posing as an innocent love interest.

It's still a fun season but if you watch Elementary you will be saying, "Oh, come on. Really?" quite a deal.

As an on-and-off Elementary fan, and most importantly as a Yank, I love hearing that Moffat went off the deep end imitating the notes of the later show.

What a nitwit.

I think you'll find a lot of haters responding, but I personally thought all three seasons were overall enjoyable. Though I do remember the second episode of the first season being kind of dull. I thought the second season was better than the first. The third was pretty good but not quite as good, imo.

You could give the first episode of season 2 a try? If you liked two out of three episodes from the first season, chances are you'll enjoy some of the rest? I think overall, they all follow a similar tone, though some of the stories are certainly a bit less interesting than others, I personally liked the snappy dialogue a lot. And Sherlock was an entertaining character.

Coming from someone that has enjoyed the whole series thusfar: if you disliked Great Game, I'm honestly not sure how much you'll like the rest of it. S2 is more the serious/dark tone like that all the way through, though you might enjoy The Sign of Three from s3 since it was basically just a fun, meaningless fluff piece.

Haha, oops, posted this from an RP journal at first.

Loved eps 1 and 3 of season 1.
Thought S2 was rubbish overall. (Loathed 2:1)
The wedding ep of S3 was fun, but I can't even remember the other episodes. No plans to watch S4.

Hmm, I feel like you might like the first two episodes of series two, but of course there's no way of knowing unless you watch them. Series three you'll probably enjoy less, though I found all three entertaining; the show focuses more on characters than cases later on, and it doesn't stop being ridiculous and overdrawn but frankly that's what I like about it.

Maybe give it a try, and if you don't like the first episode of season two stop. IDK.

I'd say they're more like the third. imo the best episodes are The Great Game, A Scandal in Belgravia and The Reichenbach Fall.

If you do watch any more, I wouldn't bother with the third series at all, it's a mess.

I really liked The Hounds of Baskerville (2-3) and thought The Riechenbach Fall (2-3) was okay. I generally enjoyed the third season, but like season 2 I liked the middle ep best and the first ep least. YMMV.

Depends on what you liked about them. The second season gets really shaky with plot and the whole Irene Adler thing was just terribly done. The third season barely HAS a plot.
