RPF isn't my thing, but as long as you're not telling the people depicted about the fic and art and stuff, it's not a big deal. I just really wish there was a way to shut down people who tell celebrities all about RPF stuff, or worse, are convinced its true, especially when it gets to tinhat levels and people make shit up as "proof" or tell celebrities that they're clearly fucking their costars, their spouses/SOs are obstacles to their love to be vilified, etc.

There's pockets of virulent RPF in my current fandom, the actors involved (and their families) are aware of it, and it makes me sad and angry, because when the actors have come right out and said that it makes them uncomfortable, the tinhatters get mad at them. Even if the tinhatters' theories were all true, they're being assholes about it. I wish they'd stop.

I'm a big gymnastics fan and some of our creepier types write RPF about these girls (and the vast majority ARE girls). I honestly find it super creepy when it's publicly out there for anyone to read.

Dude people thinking they KNOW the people better than they know themselves? It's not creepy it's a delusion that is a form of mental illness.
