I actually did one a few years ago, for a kink meme. It was only short, but it was quite fun - I wrote it specifically with the intention of it being audio-only, so I played with language sounds a lot and had a couple of different takes. It gave me a lot more respect for podficcers; it was only a few minutes long but it took me hours. So I can understand why they aren't a bigger thing, sadly!
