Re: Petty reasons for giving up on or not trying out a show, book, movie, or whatever

If it is endorsed by the Joss Whedon fandom, I will not watch it. Okay, that is unfair, if it is endorsed by the Firefly section of the Whedonbase, I will not watch it. I am just so sick of the Browncoats, you'd think Firefly was some sort of lost masterpiece of antiquity, handed to Joss from God via some mystical order of druids who had been guarding the scripts from time immemorial. It was a middle of the road, slightly dubious in terms of ethics, spaceship show. In fact it was little better than Battle Beyond the Stars in terms of quality which no one particularly liked when it was broadcast and hardly anyone watched in the theater when they tried a movie. Give it a rest, and stop trying to attach its name to other properties.

I am a big fan of Firefly, but yeah, you're absolutely right. It's not as good as its fans would like you to believe. And that's precisely why I like it so much.
