I thought one of the lead actors a) was really ugly or b) looked way too young for the part they were playing.

Movies or books that seem to have a romance shoved into the plotline purely because the writer (or their editor or someone involved w/the project) thought there HAD to be a romance, not because it's relevant or actually a major part of the story.

For a particular cartoon movie: because I hated/was a bit repulsed by the animation style used for the characters.

In fact, when I think about it, a single (often v small or irrelevant) detail that turned my stomach early in a movie will make me abandon it. For example I couldn't continue watching "Her" because of that phone sex scene where the girl talks about wanting to be choked with a dead cat, even though I have heard nothing but good things about the movie and all my friends loved it.

I was avoiding that movie because I hate Olivia Wilde, now I'm REALLY glad i did not see it!
