This news reached me a little late, but I'm still in rapturous joy. The first two animes were great and I was always sad they finished the story. I'm not thrilled with the new character designs, but I'm still bouncing on my couch and crossing my fingers that they'll finish the story.

Does anyone else remember this series? Anybody got any other old anime shows that they wish would get a wrap-up? Anybody want to come over for a viewing when it becomes available?

Damn, that sure reminds me of my anime watching glory days. Next we'll be hearing that Ninja Scroll is getting a series (I would watch the hell out of it).

Thought Ninja Scroll already had an anime series? Or do you mean a reboot?

HLoA was one of the first things I watched, and I watched with my mother. We rented it from the local blockbuster (there's a blast from the past) and loved it. We were heartbroken when we realized they never finished the story! I want to watch it again now. Maybe I can convince Noodles to show it. It's not shit, but my fond memories don't extend to the dub.

A reboot of course. I'm pretty sure I also rented Arslan from Blockbuster loool.

I also accidentally rented my first hentai (it didn't mention any sex scenes on the back at all) from Blockbuster and then my dad walked in on me just as surprise tentacle business started happening. That was awkward to explain.

Poor you! That must've been horrible. Have you ever seen Kite? It's got pedophilia, rape, gruesome murders, and I rented it and watched it with my mother.

I only saw the first few episode as a rental and I don't recall much of either... hmm.

It was a one-shot movie, but they later released a Director's Cut that was even more graphic. It did have some good action scenes though.

Ok, I have actually seen Kite. I'm not going nuts. Good. But... I somehow have it mixed up with something else in my head? A different anime I was thinking of that isn't Kite but sounded like Kite?

I think they made a sequel with other characters. I haven't seen it so I can't tell you anything about it. :/

I actually just bought either the first one or the first two of the rebooted manga drawn by Arakawa. I haven't had a chance to look at it, yet, sadly.

I remember loving the art from Arslan. I still have some of the clippings from the 80s anime magazines.

There's a lot more information about the story available now then when I was in high school. I'm debating whether or not to try and buy some of the manga and/or the novels, if they've been translated into English.

The manga I bought is definitely in English.

Hi ho hi ho. To Amazon I go. Jeff Bezos sucks but I want cheap manga hi ho hi ho hi ho.

I have bad news:

-This anime adapts Arakawa's manga. It's a bit different from the original novels.

-The manga has 3 volumes out currently. So the anime will probably be 12 episode and it won't surpass the manga. So don't expect the new anime to go further than the old anime went.

-Bonus despair: the novels are unfinished in Japan, the author takes his times.
