Re: SGA

Years later I'm still mad how they purposely fucked Atlantis over for Universe, and I didn't even really like the last 2 seasons of Atlantis.

I kind of miss having a Stargate on tv either way.

Wasn't it about the same time that they cancelled Farscape in favor of SG-1?

That was a low point in Scifi history. I miss Atlantis too, anon, but I'm a little glad they didn't get to fuck up the canon, as they inevitably would have.

AYRT I don't know too much about the Farscape thing, I wasn't ever in the Farscape fandom (just watched it) and I didn't follow the news back then.

Sci Fi channel has a bit of a shitty record of taking on good shows just to cancel them though.

The Atlantis thing (I believe) was a bit different because it came from the people within Stargate who decided they really wanted to work on SGU and so they just threw Atlantis out to concentrate their efforts on SGU. Fandom was pissed.

Oh wow, I hadn't heard that. I just supposed it was the Scifi channel being shitty again.

Yeah, not surprised they were pissed. Universe sucked balls, so nice job there writers. /sarcasm

Ugh, the writing was completely on the wall for what Universe was going to be though. That second to last episode of SGA with Sheppard in the parallel universe and everyone dies terrible deaths to get their message out?

I didn't get to the final season of SGA until after SGU had started airing and everything about that episode just screamed SGU.

I think I'm the only fan who actually liked the whole of SGA from beginning to end, LOL!

Oh, I liked the rest of SGA. Hell, I even loved Keller/McKay.

I just hated that one episode.

Ah, I liked it. But then again, I haven't seen SGU so to me it didn't have any of the 'this is the writers trying to be gritty and fucking it up' connotations. It was just an isolated, darker take on the SGA universe to me. I especially liked it because we had a previous AU (Rod's universe) for contrast.

I think I would have liked Vegas if it hadn't been so close to the end. With just one or two episodes left EVER, I want to see the people I know interacting in the setting I know. This is also why I will forever hate the end of Quantum Leap, despite recognizing that, on it's face it wasn't a bad episode (it just had an end that hardly anybody wanted).

Yeah SGA got weird because at first it was like, a continuation of SG-1 and then the writers collectively decided they wanted to write for Battlestar Galactica and everything turned into a mess.

I even gave SGU a chance and it had aspects of it that weren't bad but the Stargate people are just not strong enough writers to pull it off. They shouldn't have forgotten that they were supposed to be writing fun sci fi series.
